I'm Becky Briner, and I have taught at Heritage Hall for twenty years.
I taught kindergarten for eleven years, and this is my ninth year teaching first grade.  I love Heritage Hall, from the perspective of both a parent and a teacher.  I have seen many of my dreams come true
at this school.

As a child, I loved to play school.  My mother told my kindergarten teacher how I would line up my dolls and teach to them each evening.  In high school, I knew that I would study education in college, and my dream of being a teacher came true in 1974 when I received my teaching degree from Ball State.

As a young teenager, I would leave youth group on Sunday evenings and dream of being able to go to school with all my Christian friends,

with kids who had the same interest and desire as I did to do the will of the Lord.  But Christian schools like Heritage Hall didn't exist back then, so that dream never came true for me personally.  It did come true eventually through my children, however, when we enrolled our daughters at HHCS in 1981.  They lived out my dream of going to school with Christian friends, and they both graduated from Heritage Hall.

When I graduated from college, our oldest daughter was only a year old, and I didn't want the responsibilities of being a first-year teacher at that time.  So I went to work for the state of Indiana as an unemployment claims deputy and worked there for twelve years.  I then came to Heritage Hall, where working in a Christian atmosphere, after being so long in the public sector, is another dream come true.

I was saved at the age of nine in the evening service of the church we attended.  I still remember the great conviction I was under earlier that day.  I tried to practice the piano that afternoon, and my mother asked me what was wrong.  I told her then that I knew I was not saved but needed to be.  I told her I wanted to 'walk the aisle' at church that evening and accept Christ as my personal Savior.  I can
remember going to school the next morning and telling Miss Sandmeyers, my third grade teacher, that I got saved last evening.  She was excited, so I realize now that she must have known the Lord, too.  Nothing could make life better or fuller than having Him in my life.  I am so thankful for the Christian training my sister and I received from my parents, who are both in heaven now.

I have been married for 36 years to a wonderful, loving, Christian husband.  We have two daughters.  Kari Lynn is 34, has been married for 13 years, and has a son, Noah, who was two on June 16.  Kari and Will had twins, Aidan and Nadia, who God chose to take home when Kari was six months pregnant.  Sarah Jo is 31, has been married for 7 years, and has a daughter, Casey Jo, who is five months old.  Children and grandchildren ~ more dreams come true!!
