DRAMA

A few words
from Mrs. Callan...

Heritage Hall places a strong emphasis on helping students develop good communication skills.  A survey of over 1,000 people from all walks of life asked
responders to evaluate the importance of oral communication in their work.  Seventy-five percent indicated that skill in speaking was important or even essential in their jobs.  This makes it clear that we must help students hone these skills and help them to overcome the anxieties of speaking in public.

Each high school student at Heritage Hall must take two semesters of speech in order to graduate.  The class places equal emphasis on the skills needed to write a good speech and the techniques required for effective delivery.

Outside of class, students at HHCS receive speech training through contests and plays.  The emphasis here is on oral interpretation and drama.  These activities are not required but are offered to the students as opportunities to expand their creative horizons.  We want student involvement in these areas to teach them good character as they learn to be dependable, meet deadlines, and manage their time wisely, but we also want them to have fun.  Participation in activities like these is the stuff of which school memories are made.  A third goal is that development of talents in the areas of speech and drama will encourage future involvement in the same areas in their local churches.  Our Fine Arts program, as all other programs of our school, seeks to equip the students to serve the Lord.
